The Rowdy Growler

Chronicles of a novice beer enthusiast.

  • 2.5 days have passed. It was time to change the blow-off tube for an airlock. I was by myself on this one, and was a little nervous. I’d been told by a fellow homebrewer that I didn’t want to “disturb the yeasties.” But the shelf where we were keeping the jug o’ beer wasn’t tall enough for me to get the airlock in without moving the jug to the ground. So move it to the ground I did.
After another round of sanitation (my fingernails are shot), I wiggled the airlock into the bottle stopper without too much difficulty. I did my best to keep the jug still while replacing it back on the shelf.
There it shall remain for two fateful weeks, while we watch and wait for our beer to develop. The anticipation is killing me!
